I Don't Want to Do It
Helping Clients Over That Hump
Our clients hire organizers to help them get more done. But then why don’t they do the work to achieve that goal? What happens between the desire and the action? No one enjoys doing tasks that make them uncomfortable, but often that is exactly what you are helping clients do. During this presentation we'll discuss three ways that clients get stuck and how you can help them overcome these mental obstacles, including:
- How clients rationalize decisions and actions that they know probably won’t work
- How to help clients bite the bullet on things they just don’t want to do
- How to help clients recognize when they’re doing easier tasks as a way to avoid tackling more difficult projects
Special attention will be paid to how ADHD, anxiety and depression can impact a client’s ability to get things done and how to effectively support them.
After this presentation, attendees will be able to help clients
- See when they talk themselves into bad ideas
- Find the motivation for tasks that they don’t want to do
- Choose the more important but also more difficult tasks that they need to address
