Transfer Station Tour

Let’s plan on meeting at 10:45am at 16105 Frederick Rd., Derwood, MD 20855. The tour is from 11:00am until 12:00pm. The building will be at your right after you turn into the Transfer Station area.

We’ll learn how recyclables are sorted, prepared for recycling, as well as learn about what is not recyclable. While the rest of the transfer station is not open for tours, we can certainly ask about what is recyclable that can’t be put into our blue recycling bins.

For example, did you know that some of those tech cords that are thrown away can be dropped off at the electronics recycling section of the Transfer Station? They can be stripped down for copper wiring which is recyclable.

There is a 10-person minimum, so the more, the merrier! Also, if anyone knows of a place to eat nearby, please email Silvia.
